• Also can we take a minute and realize how much this sucks for BOTH girls? Once again like everyone is saying it is NOT Alina’s fault she won. The people who designed her program who also were so clearly upset at her for  doing it well and the scoring system rewarding backloading is what is to blame, not a fifteen year old  girl who does what she is told and tries to do it well. Her coach treats her like  shit, basically the girl’s only wish was to get McDonalds, she outright said she felt empty when she had won because  she probably realized  that A: her friend would be devestated and B: God knows what Eteri would say to her. Now on top of it, the news story and social media story of the day isn’t ‘Wow look at this wonderful 15 year old who  won gold’ it’s ‘She didn’t deserve that  medal, here are numerous articles about exactly how upset people are that she won that  medal, here are several newscasters all over t he world saying she shouldn’t have  won’. That is AWFUL. That SUCKS. No she doesnt’ have the emotional maturity and is robotic in her skating but she’s fifteen! That can be learned, I still feel that this was not her time, but come on that is awful for her.

Then Evgenia skates the program of her life, literally does everything she could have possibly done and does it perfectly and because of the way her own coach who wanted her to win so bad loaded up her other  student’s program, and the scoring system that rewards being jumping bean over an artist, after all that work of winning and winning and winning and training  and making sure  she didn’t get dumped for the new model as Eteri always brings up…she doesn’t win and she KNOWS and everyone KNOWS she should have. Not only that but being the awesome human that she is, she sees that there is a little girl (because a fifteen year old IS a little girl) who has had no one  even come up to hug her and tell her she was wonderful and congrats. And this same eighteen  year old knows that her  life and career might be over because she knows how her  coach and Russia works, that if she didn’t win last night and prove she was still the number one girl, doing what she clearly loves with all of her heart could be over and might be over. And I am sure it is a comfort to her that the entire world poured out their heart and were basically telling her how awesome she was and to please not retire after this (also get away from Eteri) but still.

There really wasn’t a winner last night
